Surfaces
This series of forms was inspired by digitally generated “isosurfaces” and then thinking about a process for handbuilding a similar form type.
The form begins with a 3D grid and a set of rules about the way the cells are filled. I’ve been making these forms since about 2016.
I think of these as both extending and also complicating ideas of the ceramic vessel.
More conduits or passageways than a traditional pot, they enter into conversations with other forms within the expanded conceptual category of containers; like architecture, a game field, or the body.
